PPP’s newly local government representatives all set to serve Karachi after taking oath: Saeed Ghani
Karachi: Sindh Labour and Human Resources Minister, Saeed Ghani, has said that it is a good development that the long process of formation of the municipal agencies in the province, which had been continuing since the local government polls, has been completed.
The Sindh Labour and Human Resources Minister stated this on Monday after he attended the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected Chairman and Vice-Chairman of three municipal towns in District East of Karachi belonging to the Pakistan People’s Party. The oath-taking ceremony was held at the office of Deputy Commissioner East for the newly elected Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Chanesar Town, Sohrab Goth Town, and Safoora Town.
Ghani, who is also PPP Karachi President, said the newly elected Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the municipal agencies in Karachi after taking the oath of their offices would start discharging their responsibilities. He said the newly elected local government representatives would fulfill the trust reposed in them by the people of Karachi in the local government elections.
He said the mayor-elect of Karachi after taking the oath later in the day would also start striving to serve the people of the city in the best possible manner. He mentioned that the Mayor-elect of Karachi had already been engaged in serving the Karachiites. To a question, Ghani told the journalists that Jamaat-e-Islami had expressed many wishes during the last year but unfortunately, all of them remained unfulfilled.
He said the JI had been continuously propagating a false narrative after losing the recently held Karachi mayoral election. He told media persons that JI’s candidate in the mayoral poll had secured 160 votes instead of 193 votes while PPP’s candidate Murtaza Wahab had bagged 173 votes. He said that whoever bagged the most votes was declared the winner in an election.
He said that it had been obligatory upon the JI to make sure that 32 absentee members of the City Council from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf should have taken part in the polling for the mayoral election.
“The PTI in the present day is facing disintegration and no doubt we have become the beneficiary of this situation but it is undue on the part of Jamaat-e-Islami to blame us for this state,” said Ghani.
He mentioned that the PPP had been serving the masses for the last many years, as that was why the people of Karachi voted in favour of the PPP to make it the single largest party in the city. He said the PPP was all set to accelerate further its drive to serve the people of Karachi after winning 13 municipal towns and 104 union committees in the city.
The Sindh Labour Minister said the people of Karachi would soon witness a marked transformation in the affairs of Karachi as the PPP would do its best to come up to the expectations of the people of the city.
