Saeed Ghani says impartial conduct of polls could only guarantee political, economic stability in country
Karachi : Sindh Labour and Human Resources Minister, Saeed Ghani, has said that impartial conduct of general elections in the country could only guarantee political and economic stability in the country.
While making his farewell speech in the house of the Sindh Assembly on Friday, the Sindh Labour Minister urged the political forces to join hands for working together to resolve the thorniest issues of the people.
He said the political forces should take steps to ensure that the conduct of the upcoming general polls should become acceptable to all the concerned stakeholders. Ghani told the house that he was completing his five-year term as a provincial minister.
He expressed gratitude to the people of his constituency, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, former president Asif Ali Zardari, and Faryal Talpur for reposing confidence in him. The Sindh Labour Minister said that despite difficulties he had tried his best to serve the people of his constituency, residents of Karachi, and the rest of the province in the best possible manner.
He said the people were the best judge of his five-year ministerial performance. He told the house that he had learned a lot during his ministerial tenure. He said the house would have conducted its proceedings in a better environment had MPA of Muttahida Quami Movement Rana Ansar would have given the opportunity to become the Leader of Opposition five years back.
He urged his fellow lawmakers in the house to forgive him if any of his remarks had hurt them during his stay in the house in the five years. Ghani said the Sindh government’s newly launched project to build houses for two million homeless flood victims in the province was a historical step. He said the Sindh government would soon fulfill this gigantic task as per the vision of the PPP Chairman.
He said the present house of the Sindh Assembly was completing its five-year constitutional term notwithstanding frequent predictions by certain quarters about the premature downfall of the provincial government of the PPP.
He said the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah had become the only head of the government in the country who was completing his constitutional term in the last five years as during this time the prime minister and chief ministers of all the provinces were changed prematurely. Ghani mentioned that the Pakistan People’s Party had been forming the Sindh government since 2008 as it was able to secure a greater number of seats in the province in every general poll.
He also expressed gratitude to the people of Karachi who voted in favour of the People’s Party in the last local government elections as the city’s mayor for the first time had become a PPP loyalist. He said the PPP was all set to secure a landslide victory in the next general elections in Sindh.
He also thanked the voters in his constituency who twice voted in his favour to make him a member of the Sindh Assembly.
